Gear care and warranty

Our warranty
Every item we sell carries a warranty against faults in materials and workmanship. The period is shown on each product page: most tents are covered for 2 years, packs for 3 years, down jackets and sleeping bags for 2 years, and boots for 1 year.
What is covered
- Seams, stitching and baffles that come apart
- Zips, buckles and poles that fail in normal use
- Boot soles that separate from the upper
- Headlamps and built-in batteries that stop working
What is not covered
Normal wear, sun fading, burns from stoves and fires, damage from misuse, and tears caught on rock or thorns. We can still repair most of these at a fair price in our Thamel workshop.
Caring for your gear
- Down: store your jacket and sleeping bag loose in a large cotton sack, never compressed. Wash with a down wash and tumble dry low with clean tennis balls.
- Tents: dry the tent fully before storing it, even if you packed it wet on the trail. Keep it out of strong sun when not in use.
- Waterproof shells: wash with a technical wash and re-proof when water stops beading.
- Boots: clean off mud, dry away from direct heat and wax leather after every trek.
- Climbing gear: check harnesses, slings and helmets before every use and retire them after a hard fall or after 5 years.
